Originating from South West Wales, I’m currently a software developer by trade. I graduated at Swansea University (Computer Science) in 1998 and then went on to work as a Software Developer in the Utilities and Telecommunication sector.

After meeting my future-wife whilst studying Japanese in evening class in Bath, we moved to Japan for three years. Whilst there I continued to work in the IT industry as a consultant in Tokyo. This blog was created as a way to communicate and remember my experiences there, and as a way to let my family and friends back in the UK know what was going on in my life.
Whilst in Japan, I started my transformation from petrol-head to (techy) eco-head, as I started to learn about the concept of Peak Oil.

In 2007, we returned to the UK where I still work in the IT Sector. Whilst at work, I primarily work in Java. However, at home I have an interest in Apple Mac OS X and iOS programming, plus starting to learn Ruby/Ruby on Rails development. Out of IT, my interests are around Photography and Eco/Environmental studies/Permaculture/Peak Oil.
One day, we would like to return to Japan an run some form of eco business with IT providing some additional income.
