What have I done!!!!
Well, I’ve gone and done something I said I would never do. First of all, a bit of background in case any non-Brits happen to be reading this (yeah, right, who would want to read this blog).
Chavs are a new group in British society, and ones that are not very welcome. (Apparently there is a similar group of people in Spain called Quillos and Bogans in Australia). Now, one of the defining characteristics is their love of Burberry baseball caps and some clothing. Due to this, Burberry clothing has gained somewhat of a bad reputation back in the UK. Having said that, since most chavs can’t afford real Burberry it all tends to be fake anyway.
Here in Japan (and Korea as well it seems) however, Burberry is very fashionable clothing. It seems to bear no resemblence to the horrible clothing you see in the UK. Even the checked pattern skirts that well dressed office ladies looks very smart.
It was with all this in mind, I was faced with a dilema. I needed a smart winter coat to wear to the office. I mean, I had a spring and autumn denim jacket, and a full snow jacket. Neither suitable for work purposes, especially when I was wearing a suit. Ohhh God no…………. that Burberry jacket there looks really nice (and understated, only a small amount of check pattern on the inside. Very discrete).
Bugger, I’ve just gone and brought something I said I would never do………… BURBERRY!!!!!
Now to make matters worse, is the fact that I’m even writing this stuff and thinking about the merits/disadvantages of clothing from a fashion point of view. What has this country done to me!!!
Ahh yes. Looking back at the giving blood episode, it now seems that the Australians are allowed to give blood at last. Mind you, Australian blood is obviously deemed safe still, as is their beef (the inexpensive variety you get in the supermarket, compared to the hughly expensive Japanese stuff………… and even more expensive Hokkaido beef).
