Back In Japan
… and its a bit chilly having got used to the heat in Phuket.
Well, work finished, and then Yuko came out to join me on the Friday. We had a nice weekend break in the resort, where we pretty much took in the sun, ate lots of good food, had some good massage and body treatment… and severly decreased my bank balance.
Ahhh well. It was really good, but nice to be back in civilisation of some form in Japan.
I’ll try to get the photos done as soon as I get the chance.. plus finish of the Kyoto ones too.
EDIT:
I’ve been playing around with my copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, and must say I’m pretty impressed. I was using Paint Shop Pro 8.1, which was certainly an easy tool to use. Lots of good functionality. I then had a play with the demo of PSP 9. Not that different, but some added extra’s like noise reduction and RAW support. Boy is it’s RAW support slow!!!!
Now, Elements may be the baby brother of Photoshop CS…. but quite frankly its still has all the tools I used to use in PSP and basically none of the ones I didn’t. Its own RAW support is quicker by a long way. That now means I don’t have to use the Canon utility first to convert everything to JPG. Then do post processing in Elements. Much better. Its Noise Removal seems a little better.
The other thing I like is the photo album management side…. something missing from PSP. OK, I may have all my photo’s neatly arranged in folders with sensible filenames. But its really great being able to tag photo’s (with keywords if you like) so it makes it easier to search for pictures. I wish I could get something set up like that for my own online gallery.
Last night, I managed to get all the photo’s arranged and tagged. Much easier to work with now. Tonight, I’ll copy the new Phuket ones in.
Then I’ll start processing them…………… I promise.
EDIT 2:
Found a good blog, which has some good reading. A Brit living in Japan. He’s been here some time on his first stint, and is been here a couple of years now on his second stint.
He really does have a good love-hate relationship with the place…. something I am only starting to cultivate
Anway, you can find it at this place.

hi there taffy san, like the look of the blog. didn’t understand edit #1 but thanks for the link in edit #2. Hmm, a good love/hate realtionship with Japan. Never thought of it in those terms before but I think you are probably right (self reflection has never been a strong point), though perhaps it’s more of a love/exasperation relationship…?
Bogue. Welcome over here to my Blog. Hey, your the first to comment on this site. Most of my friends who read it to keep updated, tend to reply using email. Ahhh well.
EDIT1. Hmmmm, afraid I’m a bit of a Photography otaku.
