Somehow, I can’t imagine the whole of Japanese society crumbling into decay before our very eyes, just because someone stops going to a shrine?!
Surely, the translation into English is wrong?! Surely this guy is not serious!?

i think what he meant was that if the japanese stop going to pachinko parlours, the economy will decay and crumble before our very eyes
Ahhh, I see now!
Obviously, who ever translated him into English didn’t do a good job.
I mean, what on earth will all those people do, instead of queuing up just before 09:00 outside their local parlour!?
Or could be what he meant was if convenience stores stopped giving you a plastic bag with every purchase the economy will decay etc?
