Japan Wins
Bugger, didn’t even know this game was on… but Japan beat Spain today in Rugby.
Mind you, there was an interesting comment in the Rugby365.com news report.
Surprisingly for a country bidding for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, the only information this website could find was on the official website of the Spanish Rugby Federation. There was nothing available to us on the Japanese Rugby Union’s website nor that of the Japan Times whose sport coverage includes skating, sumo wrestling, F1 and soccer but no report on the last rugby Test prior to the announcement of the bid.
I only found out the game was on, because the result was just shown on a brief sports highlight at the end of the NHK 19:00 news.

It’s a shame it wasn’t given more coverage – the Japan RFU are pushing hard drumming up support for their 2011 RWC bid (they were in Wales last week touting for votes). I hope they’re successful – rugby deserves a wider audience.
Don’t want to talk about rugby too much just now though after the Wales-NZ result
OMG!!!! Just seen the Wales result.
Ouch!
I did know about the Japan game, but only because we have Sky and they showed it live (and the Wales game, which was a big ouch). The Yomiuri is pretty good with its rugby coverage, but agree that there isn’t enough to go with the RWC 2011 bid – but I am really hoping they get as I’ll probably still be here…
