Definitely a missed opportunity. Apparently, the English RFU voted for Japan in both rounds, meaning that the Celtic nations swung it NZ’s way… The suggestion in the papaers is that NZ have promised to tour Europe regularly which pretty much guarantees a sell out for the home side, and that may have persuaded our fellow Celts to vote NZ. With the WRU’s cash problems, I wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case.
