The EU is obviously concerned about the Russians not giving us gas and/or bullying us around using gas as a political bargining tool. Some related news here too.
Now, this story about OPEC cutting production was interesting. Not long ago, OPEC were stating that they were hoping that they could get the price of oil back down to $35 or so for a barrel, after it had shot up to the $78 mark. As we’ve now seen recently, the price has dropped to around about $60. So the question is… are OPEC just been greedy bastards, and not wanting to drop the price below $55 just to scoop off those profits…. or is it because they can’t INCREASE or MAINTAIN production and the whole ‘cut production to prop up the prices’ is just a little story to tell the community not to give the real game away ;) Hmmm, you decide. Me, I think it’s a bit of both.
