More Travels

Hurrrumph :(
Looks like I’m going to exceed by ‘Carbon Allowance’ a hell of a lot more again before I get back to the UK. As part of the hand-over process I need to get down to Australia for two weeks. Hmm, I suppose at least I’m doing it now, rather than right before the move back.

In the News

Reading through the news day, I must admit I had a chuckle at this story about someone who worked a total of 8 days in 5 years!!. I can’t believe it has taken them this long though to work out what to do next.

In other news… oiiii, you lot in the UK. Turn off your electrical stuff!!. Then you read this news, and things aren’t so great. It was also interesting to see that the Aussies (well, the government) are now maybe starting to things a bit seriously when it comes to Global Warming. I guess the drought out there has got them thinking a bit.

Weekend Travels

On Saturday, Yuko and I headed over to her folks place. We were basically offloading Yuko’s old computer, scanner and laptop on them. Spent a bit of time setting up a webcam, and Skype for them, to make things cheaper if they want to speak to us while we are in the UK. Also meant it was a good chance to have some food and booze.
On Sunday, we headed down to Misakiguchi (御崎口) in the Miura Peninsula (三浦半島). The place is basically a fishing town, but they had a まぐろ (Maguro – Tuna) festival on. Of course, everyone descended on this town, and the traffic system just collapsed. We got stuck on a bus for ages, and ended up getting off and walking back to the train station.
On the way, and way back, we were all confused why the hell one of the train stations was called “YRP Nobi”. I mean, Nobi was written in Japanese, but what the hell were those Western Characters doing there in the place name. Turns out it means “Yokosuka Research Park”. There you go, learn something everyday. Was amusing though, as Yuko’s parents assumed that I would know what it meant… obviously being the foreigner :)
