Pointless Job Creation, Part um, whatever I counted up to….

Hmmm, I think Englishman in Japan is on to something here. Yesterday, I saw 3 Flag Wavers at the Car Park Entrance at the Jusco (a discount superstore type place) near Yuko’s folks. Now, normally, there are two of the guys there, and Yuko and I were confused as to why three people were required (well, to be precise, I was confused as to why ANY people were required… but I digress).

Media’s Latest Craze

Well, we’ve had the Imperial Succession, corruption in earthquake building standards/dodgy construction companies, drink driving as the ‘latest fad to report in the Japanese media’. At the moment, it’s children (and school teachers) killing themselves. I’m trying to work out whether….
1) It’s just the media picking up on the story of the moment (for the next two weeks)
2) or has there been a rapidly increasing problem in the Japanese school system over the last week or so.

Who knows, but you do wonder when you read stories like this, this and this.
