Ohh my God!

I’ve just seen something completely unbelievable on Aussie Sky News.

Now, historically, Australia did not used to be ‘non-White Immigrant’ friendly… but things seem to have changed somewhat (well, in Victoria anyway… there’s still some underlying racial tensions in Sydney it seems, much like the north of the UK).

But, I’ve just seen a seriously unbelievable bit of inverse racism by a ethinic minority in Australia. In some place in Western Australia, there is a very popular tourist town visited by Australians and non-Australian. Now, in this town there are lots of restaurants… “Aussie”, Chinese, Italian, Spanish… and a certain Korean (and Japanese) place run by a bunch of Koreans. This restaurant was the biggest bunch of racists… as only Korean tourists were ‘allowed’ to eat at this place, despite the fact Australia was generous enough to grant permenant residential Visas to them. Madness!

Holidays

Last Weekend

We’ve just had our last weekend in Australia, for the time being.

Since we’ve not centured down there yet, we decided to pop onto the tram down to St. Kilda. So, onto the number 96 tram we got and started our journey. What suprised us both though, though it shouldn’t have really when we thought about it, was when the tram turned into a train (basically, the road disappeared on segement of the journey). Stupid things ehh.

It was a fine, if bracing, day on the coast. The coast area of St. Kilda is very nice actually, along with West end side of Acland Road.

After spending some time down there, we decided to walk back via Albert Park. I eventually found the roads in the Park where they hold the GP, including the first corner, and also one of the corners where Martin Brundle had his big crash in 1996. Having said that, Albert Park is not such a nice looking park as it’s more sports orientated rather than being decorative and picturesque.
We finished off the day with a rather nice bottle of white wine, cheese selection and some other food at Upper+Lower House, in Federation Square. Having said that, it wasn’t as good there as it was when we went there on our first Saturday in Australia. They seem to have cut down their wine selection dramatically, and the atmosphere there just wasn’t ‘happening’. Ahh well.

Today, we headed over to Chapel Road area, where one of Yuko’s ex-collegues put on a little get-together. I say “EX” collegue, because Yuko’s last day of work was on Friday. So, today we got some home-made Japanese food, ready for our journey back this coming Friday.

Japan

More Japanese contradictory attitudes.

Bloody heck, there was a right old fuss caused by some adverts to be placed on the Tokyo Metro. Basically, they didn’t like the idea of a ‘nude’ Britney Spears. Now, she’s not exactly nude, all the correct bits are covered up.

What strikes me as contradictory is that all the other adverts for various men’s megazine, with scantily clad ladies are tolerated… so are the various manga (cartoon) books feature all kinds of sexual imagery (both conventional and non-conventional) that the businessmen sometimes read on the Metro.

What the hell are Sony doing?

Sony are increasingly becoming a bunch a muppets. Sure, I love their PSP. Those Sony VAIO laptops look very nice too. However, after the cockup with the Sony batteries supplied to Dell, resulting in a huge recallit now seems that the ones supplied to Apple were defective too! (Good job, for me, it’s the older Apple laptops, as opposed to the one I’ve got.)
