Oktoberfest

Excellent!!!

Last year, myself, Yuko and her folks headed off to Hibiya park for Oktoberfest. We had a most enjoyable time, so imagine my disappointment back in April when I found out that there would be another German Beer festival to be held in May 2006 at Hibiya Park. Noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!

That’s when Yuko and I were going to Australia, so we’d miss it. The plan to move it forward to May was because of the Football/Soccer World Cup, which started up in June.

But….

Today I’m a happy chap. Yuko noticed that there is still an Oktoberfest this year. The event in Hibiya Park back in May was merely “German Festival”. It started today, and is on all week. This time though, it’s being held down in Yokohama. So, Yuko and I are heading straight down there tomorrow. Yuko’s parents have been informed, and I imagine Yuko’s dad is a happy chap (he likes his German beer, and the whole culture thing because he was there as a student).

PC, Technology and Computing

Come on, sort it out Sony!

It just gets worse and worse for Sony!

Japan

Beauty Colosseum

Yuko and I saw this programme on TV a couple of days ago.

I was pretty shocked by it, especially the way they were promoting plastic surgury. Sure, a bit of weight loss is good, nice and healthy. Fixing the teeth a bit, don’t see any problems in that as well. But the rest of the plastic surgury they went though (especially the 60 year old women who worked in a Hostess Bar complaining she wasn’t good looking enough (of course you aren’t, you’re 60 and you should age gracefully!!)).

What made me laugh was the disclaimer at the end of the show, saying that people should think carefully about plastic surgury. Yeah, so, we’ll ignore the fact that the rest of the programme was promoting it, and was indeed sponsered by the hospital!

More random thoughts

Where did he go?

What I mean, is all that body mass…. Peter Jackson used to look like this when he was directing Lord of the Rings. I knew he’d been losing weight when I saw the “Making of” videos on the King Kong website during the production phase. However, this photo in a recent BBC article freaked me out. Is that the same guy??!!!

Tokyo Rose

There is a fascinating story over here about the treatment this American lady got by the US after WW2 (Note, I called her an American. She was ethnically Japanese, but he loyalties always were with the US it seems). Its quite terrible what they did to her after the war.

Nice one Clinton

Fox News is not one of my favourite channels, so it was good to see Clinton lay into them a bit when he got interviewed by them.

Christ… Japan is a bit dangerous

Especially if you work in the IT industry. “Ehhhhh??” you might say. Hmmm, seems people are getting a little stressed here.
