Turning Japanese
Ohh dear. Yuko pointed out to me on Sunday that I’ve started doing the Japanese thing of bowing when on the phone (well, Skype in this case). Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!
Said bowing occured when Yuko and I were calling back to my in-laws.
I don’t think I’m doing it yet when on the phone, speaking in English (though, I’m doing it in a subtle way I’ve noticed when in face to face conversations)

Well I was only there three weeks, and even then I had to stop myself bowing to everyone once I got back home! It’s a catchy habit.
Actually, I think that it makes life a little easier when you don’t speak any Japanese. You might not be able to actually *say* thank you, but I think that a lot of bowing puts your feelings across somewhat… well, more than staring at someone blankly anyway.
