What a complete arse…
Well, Labour ain’t getting my vote this Thursday in the Regional Elections.
Mind you, I don’t think any of them will be. This weekend, I was feeling particularly political and so I emailed all the candidates for my region of Cardiff. In short, I basically asked them what
1) Their party was going to do nationally (both the whole UK and Wales) about Climate Change and Peak Oil?
2) What they were going to do for Cardiff?
As expected, none have answered. One suspects that this is to do with politicians inability to discuss things that are ‘bad’ and ‘considered to be far enough in the future so may as well not be a bringer of doom to the general public and make them vote for the other ones with their empty promises of a completely rosy future’.
Ahh well, there you go. Was most annoyed that my region of Cardiff didn’t have a Green Party candidate, to ask them their views on Peak Oil.
So, who to vote for:
Hmmm. Tories have been spouting a lot of Green sounding stuff, though one suspects it’s a bunch of spin and green-wash, just jumping on a bandwagon without following through.
Labour has Miliband, but he seems to be refusing to stand for Labour Party leadership, leaving us with Brown. Miliband may be able to do something and be less exposed to drastic measures if he’s not the PM but….. Maybe a complete Labour drubbing this Thursday will cause Miliband to change his mind and go for the leadership, then we’ll see if he’s really a Peak Oil subscriber.
Lib Dem. Seem to be generally more Climate Change aware, and have a MP (John Hemming) who is very Peak Oil aware. I could see myself voting for them, but was most disappointed with lack of email reply from local candidate.
Plaid Cymru. Hmmm. I don’t subscribe to the view that Wales should be an Independant state.
UKIP : 1 policy party, no chance!
BNP : I have a non-White, non-British wife who has immigrated to the UK. Not such a sensible choice ehhh?
I guess it will be LibDem them, or an abstention from me.
