Geekery
Despite my ‘doomer’ ranting… part of my brain still loves this high-tech world and a bit of geekery.
Apple have finally announced that Leopard (the next major release of it’s OS X operating system) will be out on October 26th 2007.
300 New features… though to be fair, a lot will be minor updates.
However, some things caught my attention. From a ‘Japan’ point of view…
The in-built OS Level Dictionary now has Japanese support! Great for me, great for Yuko.
There is also some other extended Japanese support and features as well. Yuko will be interested in seeing if the Input Method stuff has been improved a bit.
From a ‘Techy’ point of view… I’m looking forward to some new development tools. In particular, X Code 3 and the new Interface Builder have caught my attention.
I’m starting a pet project at the moment and using the new tools will make things a bit easier.
Having said all this… I’m not buying Leopard straight away… I’ll wait until the first software update comes out (they usually happen reasonable often with OS X) to clear up any niggling issues with the initial release. If I had a new iMac, it wouldn’t be an issue getting it straight away… but since I’m doing an upgrade, I’m a little more wary.
