Apocalyptic Rave!

This made me laugh
The new BBC News 24 tune (the one minute long filler they have before the headlines on the hour) is even more ‘Apocalyptic Rave’.

Reminder to self… must watch some more Bill Bailey

Food, Japan, Peak Oil

No more Aussie wine

Arrrghhhh. Actually, things are a lot worse than that. Australia is in a real mess it seems, with food production threatened (it does mean that the price of grain, and thus bread will go up worldwide).

Mind you, reading that article has made me realise just how dry it’s been here in the UK for quite a while now. Whilst December and January were rather wet, there’s not been much rain since.

Following on in all things ecological etc etc, there was a good article in the online Guardian, about the return of British gardening. This can only be a good thing :) Hopefully, we can shift it to organic as well.

Finally, I see that Japan may be seeing the light about switching to having Summer Time (Daylight Savings Time). At last, common sense!

Food

Still a little to learn…

… what with Yuko and my own renewed interest about food, and production of, today’s little quiz on the BBC was quite interesting. Shame I only got 7/10 :(

Japan, Politics

Just say NO

I like!!

The loudspeakers of Japanese politicians used to annoy the hell out of me (and them waving with their white gloves… naturally, must wear gloves in case on of those dirty voters goes to shake your hand ;) ).

Anyway, those ‘renagade would be politicians’ would get my vote… cutting down on pollution of both the carbon and noise variety :)
