Japanese Green New Plan

Japan goes green with £100bn economic recovery.

All sounds good in principle. But it will be interesting to see how they actually put it into action.

It will also set up solar power generators at 37,000 schools and introduce heat-insulating materials and other energy-saving measures in 3m buildings over the next three years.

They should make a start on the old housing stock, and sort out the insulation levels there!

Meanwhile, more developments over the G20 Protests

New G20 video compounds doubts over police account of Ian Tomlinson’s death.

The reaction of protesters is important. After the demonstration, police accused them of impeding Tomlinson’s treatment by subjecting the officers and medics to a hail of missiles. In the video, a missile is seen to be thrown but you can hear someone in the crowd saying: “There’s someone hurt. Don’t throw anything.” This indicates something was thrown, but certainly there was no barrage of missiles on film, and nothing reached the police. A man is also seen, standing with his arms in the air, shouting: “There is someone hurt here. Back the fuck up.”

Ian Tomlinson death: G20 riot officer in footage has not been interviewed.

Defending the time it took the IPCC to take over the investigation, Hardwick told Channel 4 News: “Our investigators were all over this.” He added: “This is now a criminal investigation for which someone may face very serious charges.”

Hardwick also hinted at the significance of the Guardian’s footage when he revealed there were no CCTV cameras in the area where Tomlinson was assaulted.

IPCC: CCTV wasn’t working.

Hardwick said of the assault:

“We don’t have CCTV footage of the incident… there is no CCTV footage, there were no cameras in the location where he was assaulted.”

Speaking to More 4 News, the IPCC confirmed Hardwick’s comment, saying that the CCTV cameras overlooking the incident were not working.

OK, just what is the bloody point of all these CCTV cameras if they never seem to work ehh ;)

More evidence: police obstructed Tomlinson’s ambulance
I’ll leave you draw your own conclusions from that video. The police seem slow to react, but maybe there is good reason too???
